This is an 07 Extended body Sportsmobile E-250 5.4L V8 that was converted to 4×4 by Timberline Vans at 135k miles, 3 years ago. It’s in good shape overall and drives very well. The van has excellent rubber, the interior is in good shape for the age, never smoked in, the undercarriage is all very nice and dry, it has a 4.10 gear swap with posi, UJOR front bumper with lighting, Aluminess side steps, and an updated electrical system with 200ah of Lithium.
Timberline is a vetted member of the 4×4 conversion van community and built several hundred vans over a 10 year span.
Chassis
This van was purchased from a private party back in 2019 or early 2020. (Photo of original van attached). It was in good shape and free of rust, driven in from several hours away without issue. The completed conversion included a 4.10 gear change with limited slip, all new tie rods, ball joints, steering components, hub locks, driveshafts, rebuild t-case, rebuilt rear-diff, new rubber, rebuilt transmission with low stall converter and all updates, new brakes front and rear both with rotors and pads and a host of other components. The undercarriage is still nice and dry, it looks clean and has held up well. The van drives very nicely and straight, shifts well, has good power, steering is tight, really have zero complaints at all, it’s just a nice driving rig and we wouldn’t change anything.
Exterior
The paint and body on the van are as you’d expect for a well-kept vehicle with some age. It has typical tired paint on the roof which can be repainted or shot in Raptor pretty affordably. The rest is all nice and glossy, really no dents or obvious scratches, just a little normal wear, and tear. The wheels look good, the tires are knee-deep in tread and still look pretty new, the front bumper looks great and the rear is fair. It has a modified rear tire carrier that doesn’t quite let the rear left door open all the way. There have been some protective measures taken to keep the RV fittings/components from getting torn up underneath, van comes with Aluminess side steps and Bushwacker flares, a nice-looking truck.
Interior
The interior of this unit is fair. It’s clean and free of smoke, but it’s ready for a refresher if you really want it to sparkle. The layout is quite usable and it’s really more or less turn-key, maybe just some of the finishes could use a little bringing into modernity. We can really see the potential in this one, just laying down some fresh fabric and replacing some of the laminate with real wood or wrapped fabric paneling would go a super long way.
The interior lighting has all been replaced with LED, it has an induction stove top that works great, a sink, bed, rear shower/bathroom, and the benches fold into a bed. The van has an updated high-efficiency 12v ARB fridge and updated electronics, which include a DC/DC charge controller, shore power switch with DC charger, a 1500w power inverter that runs A/C current through all the outlets, and 200ah of Lithium batteries with a Renogy monitor. The system works great and it’d be quite easy to add solar. This van does have a generator that’s been somewhat removed from the loop, as the previous owner didn’t use it, but it was running last we messed with it a few years ago.
Everything else seems to work nicely exept the rear air of the van is disconnected and does not work. The van does have good cold A/C from the dash. There are some marks and aging here and there, some of the plastic trim is pulling from the cabinets, cracked lam under the couch, etc. It’s a 16-year-old RV and it’s been well-loved but used.
Front
The front of the van is nice and clean, upholstery has a little wear on the driver’s seat, but the rest looks just superb. It has a controller for the front bumper lighting on the driver door, a nice stereo system, all power options, etc, tilt, cruise, and keyless.
Further
This is just a really cool setup that has excellent potential that has all the good bones, the chassis, the right gearing, motor, and high top, really a neat platform to work from with little needed to make it sparkle.
